They say that hindsight is 20/20. Well, if you are trying to plan a wedding with out getting a wedding planner, you might have some embarrassing uh-ho’s. Looking back there were somethings I wished we had done differently. The wedding was not a disaster, but the bride might have felt that way a little bit.

The photographer took way too long taking pictures, we only had the venue for four hours after the wedding started. Guests started leaving before the photographer finished taking pictures. I should have saved off food for the wedding party, before the food was put out at at the reception. The wedding party did not get what they needed to eat because the photographer kept the wedding party longer than he said he was going to do. I also wished I had taken orders from the wedding party so I would know what to put on their plate. I needed to type up a script for the reception MC, or the bride needed to do this, months before. The bride was too busy doing other things, making her dress, to get this done.
People started asking for the cake before the bride and groom could get done with their pictures. If the MC reception had a script at least the guest would have known what was going on.
Another thing that I wish was a little different was that the bride borrowed a camera to use for her guest sign-in book, she should have got her own also, so then two people could take pictures and had two guests books so guests were not waiting as long to sign one. Maybe the wedding would have started on time, I think it was a late start because people were trying to sign the one guest book.

I do not know if we could have done anything else differently other than buy more sandwiches, but I did not want to have any sandwiches left over, which we did not. But I am sure some guests complained about us running out of sandwiches. The bride wishes we had bought more sandwiches. My family probably would have been complaining, had we been the guests at our own wedding!
‘How embarrassing….
