About one month ago Cricket sent me a text message that basically said that I need to stop using Samsung Messages and switch to Google Messages. And that I had until July 7 to switch. Okay, so I started to download the Google Messages with the link that they sent me but I did not have enough storage space on my phone to download the app.
I did analyze my storage on my phone and had hidden 15 GB of storage being used by what? I had to ask Google AI to tell me what to do to discover that it was that was being used by apps that were on my phone. And that there was about 6 GB of storage being used by apps that I did not use. I deleted some of those apps, and I also deleted old text messages of people that I no longer have communication with.
I was able to download the google messages to my phone, I tried to use it right away but was confused because it was different than the Samsung Messages. I switched back to the Samsung because I did not need to use it until July 7.
I noticed a few days before July 7th that I was not getting messages from the extended family mass text. My husband was getting them. I was still getting individual messages and messages from my family. I did not worry about it I figured I would get those messages when I went back to Google Messages.
I switched to Google Messages on July 7th at 11:45pm and I did get those missing messages from my husband family. I also got some messages from the Womens group at church.
Now my daughter has the same phone that I have, we got them at the same time. I had asked her a few days ago if she got the Cricket message and she said oh yeah, I don’t want to switch. I texted her this morning on July 8 and asked if she had switched to using the google app and she texted back and said no. I was surprised the Samsung Messages worked, I told her she needs to switch or she will not be able to get messages from group mass texts.
If your Samsung Messages App is not getting text messages from group Mass text and you are on Cricket, you need to switch to using Google Messages.
