Am I too shy to tell someone thank you? Yes, that is a question! My youngest was in a community theatre performance recently. The director was one of her former professors at the university where she got her bachelor’s degree. Her professor was someone we meet years ago when she was a kid, at the church up the street from us that had VBS during the summer. Their VBS was awesomely superb. Her professor would write a script every summer that he and several of the adults would perform for the kids that went with the VBS program, all week long! And then on Friday, the church would give the kids a picture of the cast. And then the kids would stand in line for each actor and get their signatures! It really was a very fun time for the kids and the volunteers! I volunteered at VBS when my children wanted to be involved with the VBS. I explained all that to tell you…

I saw the afore mentioned director of the musical my daughter was in, at the last performance, and I wanted to go up to him and tell him thank you for giving my baby a spot in the musical. But I did not get the courage to go up to him and tell him thank you. In my mind he was a person who was bigger than me, (a star) and I did not want to be a bother to him. But that was me being shy… Who would not want to hear thank you? My daughter told me the next day that the director had said to her during the last performance,

“Your Mother doesn’t know who I am.”
She replied, “She knows who you are, she is just … umm… shy!”
He said, “I’m shy!”
I guess that was his way of saying, I understand!

So, two people never had a conversation that wanted to talk to each other because they were too shy! That is just… Is that an excuse to not be friendly and focus on someone else instead of ourselves? Probably. Well, I am not going to get a chance to say thank you because he moved out of state! I will probably never ever see him again!
